"One of the main reasons I started bootcamp was to get in shape for ski season (a sport I love, but only returned to last year after a long hiatus). In addition to enjoying free-skiing, I love to race NASTAR (national amateur racing org) any chance I get. In all of my years racing, I have won many bronze and silver medals, but never a gold. This past week, while skiing in Colorado, I broke the spell and won gold for the first time ever. In fact, I was just short of a “platinum”, which I didn’t even know existed. I attribute my success to all of the strength-training and agility work of bootcamp—and this is after only one month. Not only did I have more strength and endurance on the slope, I had more confidence than ever, which is very important at high speeds. “I really like LivingFit Chicago's Bootcamp. Today, I found myself thinking that it may in fact be the only form of group exercise that I really enjoy and find productive.  I exercise because it makes me feel good.  I like adrenaline rushes, feeling strong, and seeing what I can accomplish. LivingFit's bootcamp classes really fulfills this desire of mine.  I finish bootcamp classes and feel strong and accomplished.  It's efficient and intense, which is great for people like me who do not want to waste their time and also for people like me who are moms and have an hour to devote to working out.   Within an hour you get a consistent and challenging workout.  Revisiting some of the gym classes I used to go to, I am realizing that LivingFit's Bootcamp classes offer a workout with the necessary speed and intensity that is necessary for change. ( Change if you want to become stronger or change if you want to lose weight.)  You're working out fast and hard so you're heart rate is up and your muscles are challenged. (Of course, modifications and guidance are offered by the coach throughout the workout.)  While the term bootcamp sounds scary and intimidating, it's really an interval workout, which keeps one's heart rate up through exercises that last for 45 seconds each. Bootcamp is not pilates or yoga so it may not be for everyone, but if you like to jump, run, lift weights, like me then you'll really like it.  I am definitely a stronger woman after four weeks of bootcamp.  Before I could do ten push ups and now I can do them for 45 seconds! “I can't say enough about this program.  I'm totally hooked.  It's an intense workout for an hour, 3 days a week.  It's hard, but you definitely get results.  Within a couple weeks of doing this bootcamp, I felt so much stronger, and since mid-January, I've lost roughly 12 lbs.  I've always been a member of a gym, but I've never pushed myself as hard as I do during bootcamp.  Not to mention, having a coach come up with different workouts weekly, keeps it fresh.  Both coaches (6am and 9 am) are great.  They have a lot of experience.  They make sure you are doing the exercises correctly not to hurt yourself, and take a personal interest in each camper.  But as hard as the workout is, it's also fun ...it's a great group of people.  Everybody works hard--we moan, we grown--but at the same time, we're all there to encourage each other.  There's a connection we all feel.  I'm not sure how to explain it, but it's cool.  Addition to the workout, there is a lot of discussion with the coaches about nutrition.   I ate relatively healthily before, but I've discovered some healthier substitutes to some of the things I ate, not to mention, put my portion sizes in check.  The coaches suggest, but don't require, keeping a food journal. It definitely stopped me from making excuses to have a second serving at dinner.  Nutrition is a big part of getting results.” - Anita

“So here I go: I HATE working out. I would rather clean my house from top to bottom - on its dirtiest day - than work out. The problem is that I NEED to work out because I am overweight and have three little people who I want to see grow up, go to college, get married and have their own babies, preferrably in that order. I would also like to enjoy my life and not dread every big life moment because I look and feel terrible. So in January of this year, I made a resolution that 2010 would be the LAST year I would be fat. I promised myself that 2010 would be spent reclaiming my body and my life. This year has included joining a gym, hiring THREE personal trainers, running two 5Ks, going to a week-long fitness resort in Utah and finally, signing up for LivingFit Chicago Boot Camp with Jen. All of these things have resulted in me losing 45 pounds since April.”
“LivingFit Chicago Boot Camp came into my life at the perfect time -- right after a hectic move and surgery. The "high" of returning from the fitness resort had worn off and I needed to get back on track. Impact got me back on the right path of eating well and working out.
Here are the reasons LivingFit Chicago works for me: 

  • It is as fun as you can get while working out. Yes, I wrote fun and working out in the same sentence.
  • It is hard and hurts, but it is worth every second and every penny. Some of the LivingFit workouts were more challenging than those at the fitness resort I attended.
  • I have seen - and felt - results. Besides losing inches, I feel stronger, happier, and more energetic. 
  • Another important perk of the program is the friendships made during that hour of sweating. We laugh, we groan, we joke, we complain, we share...
  • It goes by fast. You complete each exercise for 30 seconds to a minute. So for instance, we will do 30 seconds of jumping jacks, followed by  30 seconds of squats, followed by crunches, and so on. Therefore if you are horrible at push ups as I am, you only have to do it for 30 seconds. And really, anyone can do ANYTHING for 30 seconds.
  • It is economical. My trainers cost $60-75/hour. LivingFit costs $14/hour. Invest in yourself, your body, your life.
  • It is only three days a week -- and that's it. There is no guilt for not working out the 4 days off during the week!
  • Don't get me wrong, I still hate working out. But it is something I have to do and I hate it less at LivingFit. One day -- soon I hope -- I will not hate it at all. I am thinking another 20-30 lbs or so and those lunges may not burn as bad.
