"One of the main reasons I started bootcamp was to get in shape for ski season (a sport I love, but only returned to last year after a long hiatus). In addition to enjoying free-skiing, I love to race NASTAR (national amateur racing org) any chance I get. In all of my years racing, I have won many bronze and silver medals, but never a gold. This past week, while skiing in Colorado, I broke the spell and won gold for the first time ever. In fact, I was just short of a “platinum”, which I didn’t even know existed. I attribute my success to all of the strength-training and agility work of bootcamp—and this is after only one month. Not only did I have more strength and endurance on the slope, I had more confidence than ever, which is very important at high speeds. I can’t wait to discover what else I can do with a few more months of bootcamp under my belt!"-PM

"I've been meaning to write you a note to say thank you. I really love boot camp and know I am so much stronger than I was when I started. I truly loathe going to the gym and so I don't go to one. But this class does it for me. I may not always look enthusiastic but I am truly grateful for it. You are an excellent instructor and very motivational. Thank you!" -jen

“I am the type of person that does not like to exercise.  People say, "once you get in the habit, you'll love it!" or, "once you get to the gym, it's not so bad."  I've never felt that way. And now I know why.  I've belonged to many gyms and it's always the same old story.  I go, I get on the treadmill, elliptical, or even take a class - and even though I would go three or more times a week I never saw the results that I was looking for.  My body did not change, I did not lose weight and my clothes fit the same way they always did.  I would feel de-motivated, frustrated and ripped off - which would just contribute to my lack of enthusiasm in the exercise department!” -SB

“I signed up for the first bootcamp in December - honestly, I did it on a whim.  I thought I would just do it before the holidays and that would be it.  Now, I can truly say that I am addicted to bootcamp!  I love it and I love going!  I drag myself out of my very warm bed at 5:30 am to go exercise!!!!  I never in a million years thought I would say that.  What is it that has changed my attitude?  First, the results that I'm seeing.  Jen promised that my clothes would fit better, they do!  She promised that I would have more energy, I do!  And she promised that I would feel better about myself, and I definitely do!  What she did not promise, but what has happened, is that I've made new friends and I'm having a lot of fun!”  - SB

“I've been working out at a gym regularly for couple of year. I attended 2 classes per week. I gained weight over those two years. After just a couple weeks of bootcamp, my clothes fit better. I have more energy. I'm stronger. I feel great. I love my camp-mates. I look forward to going and am missing it this week.  You deserve it! You are worth it! You won't regret it!” - Kristi E.

“Jen's BootCamp is wonderful. I've never enjoyed working out but Jen keeps us motivated (I love her chocolate chip cookie imagery through all those lunges.) I am amazed at how much stronger and energized I feel. I've always been uncoordinated but Jen has encouraged me to continue and it's paid off; my clothes actually fit better. I'd also like to point out that this boot camp is a great value. Jen and her brother provide insightful nutritional advice (do you know that Slim-Fast has as much sugar as a Twinkie?) as a free value-add. She also sends out regular motivational emails and is always available for questions and lifestyle tips.”

“Jen's boot camp is the best investment I've made in a long time.”

“I really like LivingFit Chicago's Bootcamp. Today, I found myself thinking that it may in fact be the only form of group exercise that I really enjoy and find productive.  I exercise because it makes me feel good.  I like adrenaline rushes, feeling strong, and seeing what I can accomplish. LivingFit's bootcamp classes really fulfills this desire of mine.  I finish bootcamp classes and feel strong and accomplished.  It's efficient and intense, which is great for people like me who do not want to waste their time and also for people like me who are moms and have an hour to devote to working out.   Within an hour you get a consistent and challenging workout.  Revisiting some of the gym classes I used to go to, I am realizing that LivingFit's Bootcamp classes offer a workout with the necessary speed and intensity that is necessary for change. ( Change if you want to become stronger or change if you want to lose weight.)  You're working out fast and hard so you're heart rate is up and your muscles are challenged. (Of course, modifications and guidance are offered by the coach throughout the workout.)  While the term bootcamp sounds scary and intimidating, it's really an interval workout, which keeps one's heart rate up through exercises that last for 45 seconds each. Bootcamp is not pilates or yoga so it may not be for everyone, but if you like to jump, run, lift weights, like me then you'll really like it.  I am definitely a stronger woman after four weeks of bootcamp.  Before I could do ten push ups and now I can do them for 45 seconds! If you are looking to change things up a bit with your exercising, looking for some variety, looking for a new plan of attack, or looking for a new challenge, I would highly recommend it.” - Monica K.

“Since beginning boot camp last fall, I have lost 41 pounds and inches galore. Making this investment in my health has not only made me fit and strong, it has made my me happier. One of the perks of bootcamp is you really get to know other campers. The friends I have made while working out have become so dear to me. I look forward to seeing them in class three times a week and know that they will hold me accountable if I miss a class. We laugh, play pranks, joke around -- all while working out. It is really the most fun you can have while getting an amazing workout. It is hard but it has to be hard for it to work. And based on my results, it works.” - Rebecca

“I can't say enough about this program.  I'm totally hooked.  It's an intense workout for an hour, 3 days a week.  It's hard, but you definitely get results.  Within a couple weeks of doing this bootcamp, I felt so much stronger, and since mid-January, I've lost roughly 12 lbs.  I've always been a member of a gym, but I've never pushed myself as hard as I do during bootcamp.  Not to mention, having a coach come up with different workouts weekly, keeps it fresh.  Both coaches (6am and 9 am) are great.  They have a lot of experience.  They make sure you are doing the exercises correctly not to hurt yourself, and take a personal interest in each camper.  But as hard as the workout is, it's also fun ...it's a great group of people.  Everybody works hard--we moan, we grown--but at the same time, we're all there to encourage each other.  There's a connection we all feel.  I'm not sure how to explain it, but it's cool.  Addition to the workout, there is a lot of discussion with the coaches about nutrition.   I ate relatively healthily before, but I've discovered some healthier substitutes to some of the things I ate, not to mention, put my portion sizes in check.  The coaches suggest, but don't require, keeping a food journal. It definitely stopped me from making excuses to have a second serving at dinner.  Nutrition is a big part of getting results.” - Anita

“After just 5 weeks, I can see and feel results!  I feel so much stronger and energetic too.  It is a fun workout, the coaches are inspiring, motivating, and supportive.  And I really can't believe how fast the results are coming.  Take it from someone who has tried every diet under the sun...this boot camp is worth every penny!”
“So here I go: I HATE working out. I would rather clean my house from top to bottom - on its dirtiest day - than work out. The problem is that I NEED to work out because I am overweight and have three little people who I want to see grow up, go to college, get married and have their own babies, preferrably in that order. I would also like to enjoy my life and not dread every big life moment because I look and feel terrible. So in January of this year, I made a resolution that 2010 would be the LAST year I would be fat. I promised myself that 2010 would be spent reclaiming my body and my life. This year has included joining a gym, hiring THREE personal trainers, running two 5Ks, going to a week-long fitness resort in Utah and finally, signing up for LivingFit Chicago Boot Camp with Jen. All of these things have resulted in me losing 45 pounds since April.”

“LivingFit Chicago Boot Camp came into my life at the perfect time -- right after a hectic move and surgery. The "high" of returning from the fitness resort had worn off and I needed to get back on track. Impact got me back on the right path of eating well and working out.

Here are the reasons LivingFit Chicago works for me:

  • It is as fun as you can get while working out. Yes, I wrote fun and working out in the same sentence.
  • It is hard and hurts, but it is worth every second and every penny. Some of the LivingFit workouts were more challenging than those at the fitness resort I attended.
  • I have seen - and felt - results. Besides losing inches, I feel stronger, happier, and more energetic.
  • Another important perk of the program is the friendships made during that hour of sweating. We laugh, we groan, we joke, we complain, we share...
  • It goes by fast. You complete each exercise for 30 seconds to a minute. So for instance, we will do 30 seconds of jumping jacks, followed by  30 seconds of squats, followed by crunches, and so on. Therefore if you are horrible at push ups as I am, you only have to do it for 30 seconds. And really, anyone can do ANYTHING for 30 seconds.
  • It is economical. My trainers cost $60-75/hour. LivingFit costs $14/hour. Invest in yourself, your body, your life.
  • It is only three days a week -- and that's it. There is no guilt for not working out the 4 days off during the week!
  • Don't get me wrong, I still hate working out. But it is something I have to do and I hate it less at LivingFit. One day -- soon I hope -- I will not hate it at all. I am thinking another 20-30 lbs or so and those lunges may not burn as bad.

January 1 is a few days away and some of you will resolve to join a gym to lose weight. My suggestion is to try something new this year, try LivingFit Chicago. It might not change your life as it has mine, but it will change your body. I promise.” - RE

“I love it. Its probably the only thing that has ever worked so well so fast. I can see and feel a difference in my strength. Matthew is a super coach and I'm not really sore anymore after workouts.”  - Jen H.

“I'm doing the bootcamp with Matthew in the morning and LOVE IT! After 4 kids and not working out for about 2 years, this is a perfect way to reintroduce myself to getting back to feeling good. My goals during camp are to feel better in general (get more energy, move better) and tighten up a bit :) I've been super conscious now about my posture, what I'm putting in my mouth (no more leftovers from the kids' plate), and look forward to 6am when I can work out!”

"Thanks sooo much for bringing this down to Edgewater!” - Lisa V.

“Just want to give a shout out for LivingFit Chicago bootcamp.  I did several sessions and always enjoyed it because I knew it'd be a great workout.  If you want to become stronger and get leaner then this is for you.  I haven't been to camp for a week now since I recently moved and I absolutely miss it!"  - Monica K.

“Just wanted to share my very HAPPY surprise with you.  I went shopping last week and was SHOCKED and I do mean SHOCKED when I had to ask the saleswoman for a skirt in a size 8.  I brought a 12 and a 10 into the fitting room with me.  Even the 10 was a big big so I had to try on an 8.  It fit!!  Thanks for pushing me the last 3 months.” - Deb N.

“Let me get in a plug for boot camp - not only did I lose an inch around the waist and got so much stronger, but boot camp saved my sanity when I had three sick kids this summer!  Keeping the body fit really does keep the mind fit.  LivingFit Chicago draws people of all sizes, ages, and fitness levels - don't worry if you're not a hard body yet. And our trainer Matthew is awesome!  He pushes everyone to their limits and is knowledgable about fitness but always compassionate (even when he is calling you out on your bs). I cannot recommend the experience more highly.”  - Erika D.

"I credit LivingFit Chicago (and you and Matthew) with my whole health makeover! From November when you first came to Immanuel, I went from a size 12/14 to my current size 6 (sometimes a 4!!!!)!! Yes! I feel better physically, emotionally and mentally (crazy enough to be training for the Marathon!). Thank you both for getting me back to me!!!! " - L V.
